Updating
Huffing and puffing... I finally made it to here again.
It has been a busy bunch of days over here in the lands of Arkansas. A couple of good weather days, with temperatures up to the seventies (19C), more or less, and Hubby and I were busy cleaning things outside. Breathing the clean air and feeling the sun's warmth was GREAT!!
Opening the windows and doors and letting the house air out was also fantastic! And, of course, I could not leave it well alone - so I vacuumed, polished, dusted, and prettied our house up also. And did laundry!
And I painted the walls behind the new toilets, because the new water tanks are smaller than the old ones. You know what I mean. There were ugly parts of the wall left behind the new tanks, and they needed covered with a double coat of paint!
Meanwhile, Hubby was burning along the ditch in front of the house. And around the pond, and along the little creek, and anywhere else he could set his eyes on. He had the hose ready for any surprise, as well as the shovel. And I went there a few times to make sure he would not let the fire get into some of my perennial dormant plants - as he DID last year! This tricky-tricky white American boy!
Oh, I almost forgot! After six or seven years of "half-assed home made" haircuts, I finally went to a beauty salon and had a real, professional (!) hair cut!!! I did! I had been thinking of letting my hair grow to shoulder's length, but, after a while, I started feeling like a wet mop. There is no way I will ever be able to let my hair grow again.
This salon is located right beside the place where I work. And I had a razor cut, which I had never had before. I liked what she did. Now, I take a shower, wash my hair and afterwards, I just shake my head like a dog! Done! I am good to go.
Yesterday, we went to Lowe's and bought some more material. Since we started the rework of the house, we have spent a ton of money over there. Guess what we have gotten from them for free. (?) Guess! Two caps and two pencils! Oh boy, isn't that something memorable?
Anyway, we need to re-inforce and visually improve the appearance of the columns of our varanda/deck, so we bought more wood. We also bought material to seal the asphalt on our driveway.
Finally, we started our sweet potatoes. Right now, they are still in the house. On the kitchen window sill, in the McDonnald's coffee cups that I have been saving. The roots have already started. Pretty soon they will leaf out and look so cute. It will be Spring by then, I hope.
It does not sound like a lot, does it? I mean, so much work and activity that I could not come and write or comment on anyone's blog?
Well, ladies, I am OLD, OK?
Old, slow and decrepit.
Therefore, when we were done with our daily chores, I was so busted that I only had the energy to clean after dinner and jump into bed to watch some TV, before going to sleep.
Sorry about that.
Last, but not least, I found this picture on the net, a long time ago, and I am searching in the house for a spot where something similar would look good. Both Hubby and I have hats and a charming way of hanging them would be nice.
... providing the cats do not decide to make a ladder out of them, you think?
Love ya!

Sounds like you did a lot and got a lot of work done. It's good to hear from you again.--Inger
Humph! As much money that we spend at Lowe's, and we never got so much as a pencil!
Sounds like busy beavers at your house! It is best to get that stuff out of the way before it gets too hot, it will be summer before you know it! That hat thing... I think the cats would adore it!
A short hair cut is really the best thing, unless you manage to grow it out long enough for a bun or french roll.
DH is getting the lawn mower prepped for a summer full of whizzing around the yard.
Aah.... Spring!
Sounds like you've been very productive. Laughed at the proposed hat cat climbing tree. :)
Good to hear from you - haven't you been busy.
Love the hat idea, it looks really cool. 2 caps and 2 pencils are so exciting - do you put the pencils behind your ears like real workmen?! I was given a turquoise plastic bucket once. That was a very exciting day.
How's your back?
xx
oh come on now - if I was a cat, the first thing id do is hop up on that stool and see which of the highest hats I could reach by leaping up and ...
lol!
You've been busy - love the photos of the sweet potatoes in the window...and those cowboy hats, wow.
