We had a very busy day yesterday, and today!
Hubby's mother lives ten miles from us. She is an amazing lady, and she usually takes care of her own stuff, which includes her house, cooking and gardening. She mows her own lawn, she plants her vegetables and flowers. She never stops! And we are talking about a lady that is 86 years old! Fantastic, isn't it?
But, there are jobs that she cannot do. And that is OK. She should not be doing certain things, anyway.
She had been complaining that her "burn barrel" was ready for the dumpster. That's where she collects little twigs, sticks, dried leaves, and other garden type trash to burn, in the back yard. The barrel was rusty and full of holes.
We had to go to the Chiropractor and we decided that we would buy her a new barrel and take it to her, after my appointment. We also bought a bag of "scratch" (chicken feed) for her to put on some of her bird feeders. She had already bought the special type bird feed - these come in bags that are easy for her to carry. But the chicken feed comes in bags of 50 pounds!
Anyway, we finished at the Chiropractor and went to her house to deliver the goodies. Hubby traded the nasty old barrel, and we spent some time visiting with her.
When we arrived home, Hubby and I went to work outside. He took care of our two lawn tractors - yes, I have one too!. Change oil, sharpen blades, check batteries, check the tires and so on. We are ready to go for a drive. And, by the way - I love mowing the lawn. It will take a while yet until this can be done but I am ready.
And I cleaned our bird houses that are now hanging out there all pretty, for the blue birds that come every year.
Then, I decided to clean the varanda/veranda/verandah ... I don't know which one is correct.
* This crap spell checking is deader than dead. I do hope all my mistakes will be forgiven.
Our varanda has an "L" shape. The longer part of it is in front of the house, the shorter part of it is on the side of the house and it forms a deck which we can access from our bedroom.
I cleaned, and moped, and dusted, and wiped, and cleaned a little bit more. It is looking good now.
Now, here comes the best part of yesterday.
Around two in the afternoon, we were sitting out there, in our clean varanda, when the mailman came. He left a box out there for us. Guess what was it?!
YES! The precious, beautiful, adorable little birdie from Texwisgirl !
And she also added a card that warmed my heart like a hug from a dear friend. ( I love hugs!)
And two four leaf cloves to bring us good luck, all soooo darling!
The energy that I could feel coming from these sweet presents was fantastic!
I cannot thank you enough, Texwisgirl, for your art is much, much more than it appears on the net. And your tenderness touched me forever, you hear me?
My first idea as where to hang the picture was at the back wall of our living room. Between our grandfather clock, and the fireplace. Like this, take a look:
I had my back to the entrance door, when I took the picture. Let me show you a little more, please.
There is the whole wall, the very first part of the house that is seen as one comes inside.
Towards the right, there is another wall (separating the living from the kitchen), where we have this sweet fountain. I was for a wondering for a while if this wall could be better for my precious picture.
There. Right there, by my fountain.
From that very spot, looking towards the entrance door, we have the stairs that lead to the basement. On the wall, we have a shelf, with Hubby's antiques and things... I also thought of the spot on that same wall, under the shelf, right in the center.
Like this:
I had to stop writing and go hang it, because I wanted to see how it was going to look. This seems quite a neat spot, doesn't it? Better than squished between the clock and the fireplace.
I know it is a little crooked. I will fix it, with Hubby's help. Tomorrow.
Decisions, decisions... how I love it!
Love ya!

Texwisgirl, or T, as I call her, is a gem of a friend and a wonderful artist, to boot. I'm so glad her little birdie found such a nice home with two wonderful people like you and your hubby. :)
T. is a real sweetheart, and a great artist! I was so happy that you won! Yep, I believe that's a good spot for it!
I love your veranda, I just have a dumb porch.
I am SO glad you got it and like it!!! Just brings a big smile to my face (and heart!) You have a really neat home (and a great verandah!) with lots of antiques. That fireplace mantel full is so neat! No matter where you hang it, I'm so glad it has a home with you. You are precious! :)
It is a very sweet picture. I won one some time back, from phantsythat, and I just love it, too. I also think you have the very best verandah. It looks perfect for a warm summer night. They will be here before you know it.
You have a lovely verandah! We have one, too, but it usually ends up cluttered with mucky boots and dirty tools and muddy gardening gloves and stuff. If it would ever stop raining I might feel inspired to tidy ours up, too...
The picture is charming, and I think you have found a lovely spot for it!
THAT texwisgirl is a sweetheart; and you are one for showing us where the picture belongs :)
Congrats again - and it looks like you have a good start on spring !
love your charming yellow house and veranda. wonderful views, inside and out! t's little bird is a perfect addition!
I loved this whole post - seeing the outside, seeing the inside, all of it and the wonderful present...Thanks for letting us share in where you live - it all looks great and I love your "veranda" too...
