This is our motto: Can't afford it? Make it yourself.
We priced a headboard for our king size bed and almost fainted! What were those people thinking? Almost a thousand dollars for a headboard? Bullshit!
We made our own. So, there!
I bought the fabrics at Walmart (suede), cut and sewed it together in stripes. I also bought some batting and Hubby gave me a piece of plywood that he measured and cut for me. I, then stapled the batting and a piece of white fabric (some left over) as a lining over it, to make it firm and, at the same time, to give it that puffy feeling. On top of that, I placed the stripped fabric and, again stapled it on the back (with a few less staples so it will be easier to remove, whenever we decide to change it).
Hubby finished it by making the lovely black frame. And, as always, he did a wonderful job!
Hubby hung it on the wall, flat and neat, behind the bed. (I can pull the bed to vacuum under it, and the headboard will wait for me, in place.
Total price? Around sixty dollars maximum!!! Take that, furniture store!!

I did basically the same for our old bed, although, I attached it to the bed frame. (Yes, I used to be quite handy) We now have a Queen size bed and I want to do (er... have it done) the same way as yours, attached to the wall. You are so right, the furniture stores are insane with their prices! Yours looks great!
Hello!! I've been plagued with problems on blogger this week and haven't been able to do my visits or leave comments that I'd like too--So I hope that this makes it onto your blog...But I've enjoyed reading your posts this week--I especially loved the 'prank' your husband pulled on you with the truck! But I know it wasn't funny until afterwards for you! It's great to live with someone who has a great sense of humor and makes you laugh, at least that's what I tell my husband! :-))
Your headboard turned out great! I've seen them do them on the home shows and they make it look so easy and they turn out beautifully like yours did--I know it wouldn't if I did it....I'm one of those dummies that will pay the $1000 for it--actually, no I wouldn't!
You actually vacuum UNDER the bed? LOL!
It's lovely! xxxxxxx
